Berardino “Toots” Carapella, a lifelong resident of Tuckahoe, New York passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2016. He was 95 years old. Toots was born on September 13, 1920 on Maynard Street in Tuckahoe, New York, Son of Pasquale and Quindalina (Consorte) Carapella. He graduated from Tuckahoe High School and served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army’s WWII Pacific Theater from 1942-1946. Toots worked on the assembly line at General Motors in Tarrytown, NY for 35 years. In his retirement Toot’s enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and reminiscing with his friends on their favorite Main Street bench. Toots is predeceased by his sister Elizabeth, bothers John and Victor. He is survived by his sister, Lillian Carapella and brother Alfred (Reva) Carapella and his many adoring nieces and nephews. Friends may visit on Thursday April 7, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME,INC. Eastchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Friday April 8, 2016 at Assumption Church, Tuckahoe. Interment to follow at Holy Mount Cemetery, Eastchester.
