Obituary for Egidio Dario Caccuri

Egidio Dario Caccuri
Egidio Caccuri passed away peacefully on May 7, 2015 at the age of 91. He is survived by his loving wife, two adoring children and their husbands, as well as five grand-children. Born in Torano Castello, Italy in 1924, Egidio studied tailoring from a very young age with the great Italian masters. He married his childhood sweetheart, Rita, before moving to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After the birth of his first daughter, Antonetta, he and Rita moved to Brooklyn, New York where he began his 50 year career with Brooks Brothers. Working his way through the ranks of Brooks Brother''s Custom-Made Suits department, Egidio soon became the Forman overseeing a large staff of tailors. With the birth of his second daughter, Rosemarie, the family to Mt. Vernon, and eventually to Eastchester, New York. At age 65, Egidio retired but could not stay away for long. He soon took on a part-time position continuing his work as a master tailor at the Brooks Brothers Scarsdale store until he was 89 years old.
Egidio''s kind demeanor, gentle ways, and appreciation for life''s simple pleasures made him a man who was loved and respected by all. His love of gardening, even while wearing his impeccably tailored signature shirt and tie, and his passion for card games and sports such as soccer, football, and boxing, are just a few of the memories his family will cherish forever.
The family will honor Egidio''s life today, Saturday - May 9th at the Westchester Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated for him on Monday - May 11th at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, New York at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
